Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) - Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives Mazen Al-Qadi on Sunday inaugurated the Sada Al-Shaab Center for Political and Strategic Studies, in the presence of lawmakers and senators, alongside a group of political, media and academic figures.
In his opening remarks, Al-Qadi said the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II constitutes the cornerstone of Jordan’s national modernization process, noting that since assuming his constitutional powers, the King has placed the Jordanian citizen at the heart of his priorities, with a focus on improving living standards, expanding employment opportunities and developing public services. He stressed that the royal vision provides a national framework within which all legislative, media and research institutions must operate.
Al-Qadi said all national institutions are required to work in an integrated and coordinated manner so that state policies and media and research initiatives are directed toward improving citizens’ lives, promoting a culture of informed political participation, and strengthening trust between the public and state institutions. He added that this approach reflects the royal vision that places Jordanians and their rights at the center of national priorities and ensures that research and media centers serve as key contributors to the comprehensive modernization drive.
He noted that research and media centers, such as the Sada Al-Shaab Center for Political and Strategic Studies, which stems from the Sada Al-Shaab daily newspaper, represent important tools for monitoring public sentiment, understanding issues of concern to citizens, and translating this understanding into practical recommendations and policies that support decision-makers, enhance the quality of public discourse and help shape a comprehensive vision aligned with the King’s goals of political, economic and administrative modernization.
Al-Qadi said effective parliamentary work consistently requires support from scientific research centers and professional media outlets to provide in-depth readings of national issues, analyze economic and social policies, and engage with regional and global developments, ensuring that legislative decisions and public policies are more responsive to citizens’ demands and more aligned with national modernization strategies.
He added that Jordanians seek tangible decisions that address their daily lives and basic needs, emphasizing that media and scientific research must be genuine partners in conveying these demands, analyzing them and framing them strategically to support sound decision-making and place citizens at the center of every national project.
Al-Qadi said the Sada Al-Shaab Center represents an important model of integration between media and scientific research, enabling objective and in-depth analysis of the political, economic and social landscape, and transforming information from mere news into actionable knowledge that supports the national vision for comprehensive development and enhanced citizen participation in shaping the future.
For his part, Sada Al-Shaab Board Chairman Omar Al-Ayasra said the launch of the center responds to an urgent national need and reflects a clear vision to strengthen the role of media in serving society and shaping awareness by developing research and analytical tools that help read the political scene in depth and understand domestic, regional and international transformations. He said this would enable the production of applicable recommendations and strategies to support decision-makers in formulating policies that meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.
Al-Ayasra said the center is being launched at a critical time marked by rapid political, economic and social shifts in the region, which require objective and in-depth analysis free from emotion or bias. He stressed that today’s political environment demands that intellectual and media institutions be capable of closely reading events, anticipating their impact on the nation and its citizens, and translating these insights into studies and policy papers that enrich public debate and national decision-making.
He added that the center represents a natural extension of the newspaper’s role, transitioning from merely conveying news to becoming an active partner in knowledge production by generating in-depth analytical content focused on major national issues, including political reform, economic development, social justice, national security, foreign policy, and regional and international developments and their implications for Jordan.
Al-Ayasra said the center will adopt a clear institutional methodology, working with a group of researchers, experts and academics from various disciplines to ensure accurate scientific analysis that helps understand public opinion trends, monitor shifts in citizens’ priorities, analyze government policies and propose practical solutions to citizens’ challenges, with a focus on linking research to lived realities so that outcomes are applicable and impactful in decision-making.
He said the importance of the center is heightened by the political, economic and security challenges facing the region, as it provides an independent national platform to objectively study the Jordanian and regional political landscape, analyze international shifts and their domestic implications, and contribute to supporting national stability, enhancing transparency and building public trust in national media and research institutions.
Al-Ayasra said the center will produce periodic studies and organize seminars, workshops and specialized discussion forums bringing together journalists, researchers and decision-makers to exchange views and analyze future scenarios. He stressed that the ultimate goal is to deliver in-depth analytical content that places citizens at its core and transforms information from data into knowledge tools that enhance effective political participation and promote a culture of dialogue and social responsibility.
Meanwhile, the newspaper Director-General Mahmoud Al-Fataftah said the center will adopt the highest scientific and professional standards in preparing its research and reports, operating through carefully designed plans and programs that keep pace with political and strategic developments. He said the coming phase will see the launch of a series of studies and periodic reports, alongside seminars, workshops and specialized discussion sessions involving experts and specialists.
Al-Fataftah said the center aims to build a comprehensive research database and provide in-depth analytical readings that support decision-makers, researchers and journalists; enhance transparency; and entrench a culture of knowledge-based approaches to national issues.
Editor-in-Chief Khaled Khraisha said the inauguration of the Sada Al-Shaab Center for Political and Strategic Studies embodies the newspaper’s vision and media mission, based on combining professional journalism with knowledge-based research and going beyond reporting events to analyzing, deconstructing and reading them within their political, social and national contexts.
He added that the center will serve as a knowledge arm supporting journalistic work and as a platform for producing in-depth analytical content that enriches Jordan’s media landscape and elevates public discourse, reaffirming Sada Al-Shaab’s commitment to professionalism, credibility and responsible service to national causes.
